Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 10, 2026

Chengdu Ballad Technology Co., Ltd. ("Ballad," "we," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website (xballad.com and related Ballad sites), use our software (including MirrorPlayer and obsmatePro, and other Ballad products we may release), purchase licenses, activate products, and optionally participate in MirrorPlayer community keymap sharing. This Policy supplements our End User License Agreement; if there is a conflict regarding privacy, this Policy controls. Website browsing is also subject to our Terms of Use where posted.

1. Scope

  1. This Policy applies when you visit the Ballad website, download or use our desktop software, purchase a license online, activate our software, and when you optionally share MirrorPlayer key mapping configurations with the community.
  2. Ballad may operate China-facing and international website builds with different analytics tools and payment channels; the sections below describe those differences. Product features you actually use (for example, community sharing or online purchase) are governed by the practices described for that feature.
  3. It does not apply to third-party websites, game platforms, app stores, or payment providers' own services, which are governed by their own privacy practices.
  4. If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use our products and services. Continued use indicates that you have read and understood this Policy.

2. Data Controller & Contact

  1. Data controller: Chengdu Ballad Technology Co., Ltd.
  2. For privacy inquiries or to exercise your rights, email privacy@xballad.com (please include the product name and your request).
  3. You may also reach us through the Contact Us page on our website.

3. Overview by Product

Processing differs by product:
  1. MirrorPlayer: Key mapping configurations are stored locally on your device by default. They are uploaded only if you actively opt in and confirm community sharing.
  2. obsmatePro: Casting is processed locally on your device. We do not collect, upload, or store your screen content, audio, or user configuration files on Ballad servers as part of the casting feature.
  3. Purchases & activation: When you buy a license online or activate the software, we may process order and activation-related information (see below).
  4. Website: We may process limited technical information related to site visits (see below).

4. MirrorPlayer Key Maps & Community Sharing

MirrorPlayer supports keyboard and mouse mapping. Except as described below, we do not upload your keymap data by default.
  1. Local by default: Your keymap scripts/configuration files remain on the computer running MirrorPlayer unless you choose to share them.
  2. Optional community sharing: Only when you select "Share to community" in the app and confirm in a separate prompt do we upload that keymap. The upload contains mapping settings (e.g., key bindings, macro names) and does not include your screen content or live input.
  3. No identity display: Shared keymaps are published without displaying your name, email, or Ballad account. This means other users generally cannot see who uploaded a keymap; it does not mean that no technical logs (such as IP address or upload time) are ever processed for security, abuse prevention, or server operation.
  4. Public visibility: After you consent, your shared keymap becomes visible and downloadable by other MirrorPlayer users to help reduce setup time for new users. Please ensure you do not include information you do not wish to make public.
  5. Storage location: Community keymaps shared through our international product/website channels are stored on servers located in the United States and, for those international channels, are not transferred to China for storage. If you use China-facing channels, storage and transfer practices for any community or related features will follow the disclosures applicable to those channels or a future update to this Policy.
  6. Deletion: You may delete your published shared keymaps in the app or contact us for assistance. After deletion, we remove server copies within a reasonable time; copies already downloaded by other users may remain on their devices, which we cannot control.
  7. Safety & moderation: We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards and may review or remove shared content that appears malicious, unlawful, or infringing.

5. Information We May Collect

  1. Website visits: IP address, browser type, visit time, referrer, and basic device information for security and aggregated traffic analysis (via server access logs and, where applicable, analytics tools described below).
  2. China website analytics: On the China-facing site build, we may use Baidu Analytics or similar tools for visit statistics. You can limit cookies through browser settings.
  3. International website: The international site build does not load Baidu Analytics. Aside from basic server access logs required to operate the site, we do not use additional third-party web analytics unless we update this Policy and notify you.
  4. Purchases and orders (international): For international checkout (Paddle), we may process information needed to complete the transaction and deliver your license, such as payment email, order/transaction ID, plan or license type, and license/activation code. Any card details are handled by Paddle; Ballad does not store your full card number.
  5. Purchases and orders (China): For China-facing WeChat Pay (typically QR-code payment), we may process order/transaction ID, plan or license type, and license/activation code. Ballad does not collect a payment email for this channel, and this flow does not involve Ballad storing card numbers.
  6. Payment providers: International channels use Paddle; China-facing channels may use WeChat Pay. Those providers process payment data under their own privacy policies. For Paddle, see Paddle's Privacy Policy .
  7. Software activation: When you activate a product with a license code, the software may report the license code and device identifiers (and related limited technical information needed for activation checks) to Ballad servers to verify the license, bind or manage activation, and help prevent abuse.
  8. Support communications: When you contact us by email or other channels, we process the information you provide to respond to you.

6. How We Use Information

  1. Provide, maintain, and improve our website and software;
  2. Complete purchases, deliver license codes, send order-related notices, and handle refunds or order support;
  3. Verify software activation, manage license binding, and help prevent fraud or license abuse;
  4. Operate the MirrorPlayer keymap community (only when you choose to share);
  5. Provide customer support and respond to requests;
  6. Protect security and prevent fraud or abuse;
  7. Comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements;
  8. Other purposes with your explicit consent.

7. Sharing, Disclosure & Storage

We do not sell your personal information. We share or disclose information only in these cases:
  1. Service providers: e.g., U.S.-based cloud hosting solely to store community keymaps or operate website infrastructure, bound by contract;
  2. Payment providers: Paddle for international checkout channels, and WeChat Pay for China-facing payment channels (e.g., QR-code payment), solely to process payments under their own policies. For international Paddle checkout, Ballad does not store full card numbers; for China WeChat Pay channels, Ballad does not collect payment email or store card numbers. See Paddle's Privacy Policy .
  3. Legal requirements: when required by law, litigation, or lawful government requests;
  4. Protection of rights: when necessary to protect Ballad, users, or the public;
  5. Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, we require the recipient to honor this Policy or obtain your consent;
  6. obsmatePro: We do not share, sell, or transfer obsmatePro users' casting content or local configuration to third parties as part of the casting feature, because we do not collect that content on Ballad servers for casting.

8. Retention & Security

  1. We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy. Community keymaps are removed from our servers within a reasonable time after you delete them or we take them down, unless law requires longer retention.
  2. Order, license, and activation records may be kept for the license term and a reasonable period afterward for support, refunds, anti-abuse, and legal compliance.
  3. Access logs are generally kept for a limited period unless extended for security investigations.
  4. We use reasonable measures such as HTTPS/TLS and access controls. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

9. Your Rights

  1. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, data portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent.
  2. If you are in the EU/UK, we will respond within applicable statutory timeframes. Withdrawing consent does not affect prior processing based on consent.
  3. If you are in California or similar jurisdictions, you may have rights to know, delete, and opt out of certain "sale/sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
  4. Email privacy@xballad.com to exercise your rights. We may need to verify your identity.

10. Other Matters

Please also note:
  1. Children: Our products and services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). If we learn we collected a child's information without parental consent, we will delete it promptly. Separately, our EULA may require users under 18 (or lacking full civil capacity) to obtain guardian consent before using the Products and Services—that is a license/capacity rule, not a substitute for this children's privacy standard.
  2. Third-party links: Our website may link to third parties with separate privacy policies.
  3. Related documents: Software use is also governed by the EULA; website use by the Terms of Use where posted.
  4. Updates: We may update this Policy and post the new version with an updated date on this page. For material changes, we may provide additional notice on the website or in the software.
